NQL Competition Teams

At the moment, we field three teams, the Unspeakables (A), the Unbreakables (B), and the Unforgivables (C), in the NSW Quidditch League (NQL) as well as other interestate tournaments and competitions, including Australian Nationals. Learn a bit about them, and their #UnspeakablePride, #UnbreakableBonds, and #UnforgivableFerocity, here!

The USyd Unspeakables

The Unspeakables are the original team of USyd Quidditch Club, having been around since 2012 as our main team until joined by the Unbreakables in 2016. Now in our multi-team system, they serve as our A team and top competition team, as well as the team we play as at interstate and other competitions where we're not taking all three teams. The Unspeakables have always played in red (apart from that one time in yellow at 2012...), and have come 5th, 3rd, 5th, 3rd, 5th, and 5th at Nationals each year from 2012-2017. In the last three years, they have also come 3rd, 1st, and 3rd in the state league.

After an incredibly successful rebuilding season last year, the 2018 Unspeakables, captained by Ajantha Abey and Samantha Chittenden, represent the top level of competitive quidditch being played at USyd, striving to perform at the very top of the state and national competitions. With a history of spectacular upset wins and come backs (including the longest game ever), a strong experienced core, and a number of elite players, 2018 could be the Unspeakables' year. The team is currently no. 1 on the in the NSW State League and recently won Melbourne Mudbash 2018, Australia's largest interstate competition outside of nationals!

The Unbreakables had their first run at April Triwiz in 2015, but didn't become a regular consistent team until 2016, when they properly became the first second (B) team in Australia! In 2016, despite being made up of predominantly new players, they were able to be competitive at the bottom of the table with established teams like the Weasleys and Wollongong, winning some of their first games, and narrowly out doing their sister B team in 2017, the Unforgivables.

In 2018, the Unbreakables, playing in blue, captained by Harry Huang and Alex Nielsen, are again the true (rather than equal) B team for the club, and expect to be playing highly competitively, aiming to top the second division of the NQL. In many ways they are a development team for future Unspeakables players, and feature many of the club's up and coming talents, who will prove a force to be reckoned with, even against the most established teams of the NQL. The Unbreakables are currently vying with the McArthur Weasleys Quidditch Club for the top spot in the State League's second division.

The USyd Unforgivables

The Unforgivables were founded in 2017 as the third team of USyd Quidditch Club, one of the first in the world. They began as a second and equal B team along side the Unbreakables, playing in yellow for most of the year until taking up their new black lightning patterned (and objectively best looking...) jerseys.

In 2018, the Unforgivables are captained by Lilian Thai and Ryan Carson, and are playing as the C team of USyd Quidditch Club in the NQL. They form a development team for anyone wanting to play in the more competitive inter-mural setting of the NQL and Nationals, but in a more casual and less intense team. Should the club grow enough, it is possible that the Unforgivables will become more competitive, and a fourth team may be opened. #Unbelievables. #YouHeardItHereFirst.

The Unspeakables, Unbreakables, and Unforgivables are our competition teams for inter-mural tournaments. We also run a competitive but more fun based internal league, called the USQL, featuring five different teams.
